EARGASM: A You and Me Thing

A You and Me Thing is a Bronx based hip-hop duo comprised of songstress Roqui Monroe and lyricist Noah Vinson.  I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing from them so far; it's actually refreshing.

Keep up with A You and Me Thing:

EARGASM: Wiz Khalifa ft. Chevy Woods "Middle of You"

I'm not a smoker by any means, but I love this song!!!!! Unlike the majority of his fans, this song makes me want to get in the mirror and do my best Ciara impersonation.

Curl/Fashion Envy: Solange Knowles

I don't have many personal style icons.  But when I do get in my feminine groove, Solange Knowles is definitely one of those chicks that I look at and say "I need that".  I like to think of myself as a "silhouettest".  I am all about silhouette and her latest fits are calling my name.  Not to mention, I love her natural hair pride.  She's been natural for a while, but has now decided to start wearing natural styles after her big chop last year.

I need this in my life!!!

EARGASM: Kelly Rowland ft. Lil' Wayne "Motivation"

When I heard this song on the radio 2 weeks ago, I was really proud of Ms. Kelly for capturing a good radio sound.  For many years, she has struggled to find and satisfy her American audience and I hope this single will give her the push she needs to overcome her past obstacles.

Although I like the song (sexiness and all), the video featured too much male hip-thrusting, with no feminine appeal whatsoever.  I'm sure my gay male friends will live for this video!

Teyana Taylor for Vibe

When I opened my new VIBE magazine (with 50 cent) last week I was shocked to see such stunningly beautiful pictures of Ms. Teyana Taylor.  I'm not a fan of the makeup, but the overall styling is superb!

8920: Charm City!!!

Over the past week, I've been testing out some jewelry ideas. My better half fell in love with the idea of a charm bracelet and immediately started telling his friends. Within days, we've sold enough to start taking this little idea to the next level. Now, because I am a super tomboy, everything I construct in fashion has a masculine twist. I would like to market these charm bracelets as unisex, but I don't want to take the Y chromosome from my alpha-male clients. So, I'll keep it black and white (men and women).

This bracelet collection is called Good and Evil. The bracelets are all a mix of black onyx and include your choice of one charm; a skull or a cross. Any custom orders including color and extra charms will be an additional charge.

For right now, the base price of the bracelet is $35 and includes a toggle closure. For sales inquiries please contact me: 89twenty@gmail.com

Below are just a few pictures of satisfied customers. These will be available for sale on-line at our store, so please stay tuned for more information!!

Movies: Limitless

"No one man should have all that power; the clocks ticking I just count the hours".

I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't perfect in any sense, but if you like your thoughts provoked then it is a must see. For whatever reason, I tend to draw biblical references and themes from most movies these days; so just try to follow where I'm coming from.

Themes:

- Knowledge is Power
- Too much knowledge/power is dangerous
- Nothing too good lasts forever
- Lack of self-motivation
- Dependency
- Perfection
- Good vs. Evil
- Greed

And the list goes on.........

The pill allowed him to access 100% of his brain, thus giving the capacity to store new knowledge and recall forgotten memories; as well as think situations fully through. Anyone can do this if they concentrate hard enough, right? Well, the difference is the pill allowed all of this immediately.

Now here goes my religious interpretation.........

Without spoiling the movie, the pill represents Religion. His dependency on the drug was his faith. When the medication wore off, he lost everything he gained and even became physically ill. As long as he had the pill in his life, everything was perfect. Living without the pill, was the difference between life and death.

At one point in the movie, he did something absolutely crazy which took a turn and for me and represented pure evil. After that, he seemed to have signed a deal with the devil. Although he was supposed to be off of the drug, his powers intensified and his character became extremely arrogant.

If you've seen this movie, do you think he was still on the drug at the end?

Curl Envy: Corinne Bailey Rae

I've been a huge fan of Corinne Bailey Rae's music since her U.S. debut back in 2006. Even though I'm a self-proclaimed hair fanatic, her hair didn't wow me at that time.  Now, Corinne's got some "hangtime" and her twist/braid/bantu-knot out is making me a little anxious (I want this hair, STAT).  Because of her and Marsha Ambrosius, I've started wearing side parts.  My goal is to achieve this look and length by December!  So far, I'm on the right track.

The Baltimore Natural Hair Expo

I attended the Baltimore Natural Haircare Expo 2011 on Saturday March 26th.  It was great to see some of my Youtube vloggers, learn about new products and natural salons in the area.  More than anything, it was great to see so many fellow naturals!!

I did enjoy myself, but next year there needs to be some changes.  First, the space was way too small.  It wasn't the sort of venue where you could maneuver a detour around this person and that person to get through.  You had to literally stop and let people walk by and jump out in to traffic at your own risk.  This aspect was a major turn off and is the sole reason why I only stayed for 35 minutes.

I'm no natural hair guru, but I'm a 9 year veteran, so there is nothing new out there that I haven't seen or haven't read about. So, I was somewhat bored.  I do think a newer natural would've appreciated the event a little more and could've stood the heavy foot traffic a little longer than me.

Although it was all about hair, I was more intrigued by the jewelry and accessories.  So much so that I spent my entire frugal budget within 15 minutes.  I wanted to get some Ivy Charlaine jewelry, but I'd already spent all of my cash.  I knew she had a website and the prices were pretty much the same, so it was ok.

Overall, I left with some earrings I could've made myself, another pair of earrings that looked like they were from the beauty supply store upon further inspection, and some shea butter.  Did this frugalista just waste some money?  I think so.................SMH!!  Nevertheless, I have no regrets at all; I'm glad I went and I enjoyed the little time spent with one of my dearest friends and fellow natural.

EARGASM: Eliza Doolittle "Skinny Genes"

This is one probably one of the most sexiest songs ever.  The lyrics are so cleverly masked behind the pop, folk sound that you would assume that what she is saying is "kid friendly", NOT!  The video is also visually appealing and I would've loved to be a guest at that party.  I really like what I've heard from Eliza Doolittle so far and if you're interested, her U.S. debut was March 22, 2011 per digital download via Capital Records.  Yes, it has been almost a year since the original release in her native UK (we're late).

Curl Envy: Jada Pinkett Smith

I love Jada Pinkett Smith.  No, it's not because she is from Baltimore or her acting career. Although, "Lena" was one of my favorite characters from the newer seasons of  A Different World and I love Hawthorne, I'd have to say that I'm more fascinated with her hair (even when it's straight).

I love this style; it's so easy.

Product Review: Covergirl Lip Perfection in Hot (305)

not color 305

CoverGirl's Lip Perfection in Hot (305) is probably one of the best, cheap, matte, bright red lipsticks out right now.  Every time I wear this color, people assume that it's M.A.C.'s Ruby Woo.  Although it is similar, 305 is just a little warmer.  So, it's pretty close and for half the price, it's definitely a winner!

The pigment in this gel-based lipstick is so rich, one swipe across will give you full color.  It's staying power is ridiculous.  I'm not going to say that it stays on your lips all day at full color because it doesn't. After several hours, it fades down evenly to a beautiful stain.  This beautiful stain does stay on your lips all day and the next.  I didn't mind yesterday's lips; I just applied a clear gloss and kept it moving.  Even with a primer or a lip balm beforehand, it will stain right through.  So, if you want to remove it completely, I would suggest a lip scrub.

I love this lipstick so much, I am going back for more shades!

This is several hours with a little gloss on top

EARGASM: MGMT "Electric Feel"

This song is no where near new; in fact, I discovered it almost 2 years ago while at work.  I've since fallen in love with MGMT and for whatever reason, I just discovered the video.  The video is just what I expected (lol).

Curl Envy: Teyana Taylor

I know this isn't all of her hair and I don't care.  I am just happy she chooses to embrace big, curly hair and separate herself from the norm.  I'm also eagerly awaiting her official debut; I hope she doesn't keep us waiting too much longer (it's already been like 4 years).

Not the best blending technique, but the curls are still stunning
