Happy New Year's Eve

I'm so excited about 2011; I can feel something in the air!  I know, I know, the typical NYE statement; but seriously, somethings got to give.  Let's recap 2010:  I broke my nose, had reconstructive surgery, I quit my job, started my own business venture, suffered a loss, lost some friends, and reconnected with others.  Overall, it was a bittersweet year.  I am claiming that 2011 will be more sweet than bitter!

"I'm having a good day, let's make it a great night"  is my new motto for 2011, CHEERS!!!

If you think this track sounds familiar, it does!  It's the same beat from Kanye's "Devil in a New Dress" or more specifically (the part that Rick Ross spit over).  I like the "R&B'd" version as well and it was great to hear Eve again.  Oh, and if you didn't figure it out, Alicia is referring to her son!

Big hair, don't care! Whether it's real or fake (you already know), Ms. Badu rocked some of the most vivacious Afros I've ever seen. She has me tempted to go get a wig as I transition from this heat damage.....sigh! I wonder what she did with them, hmmm..........

Curl Envy: Janelle Monae

Whether she is rocking her signature pompadour or her effortless fro, Janelle Monae's hair is definitely lust-worthy!!! I remember the first time I saw her in Outkast's video Morris Brown. I wanted to know who she was immediately; and I sure did. I bought the Idlewild soundtrack just because she was featured and I was curious about her craft. I am now a fan and have seen her in concert twice; she's really talented.

She shook it loose, lol.

Video: Going Natural

In July of 2002, after years of chemical damage I decided to shave my head and "go natural". There was no political statement or trend I was trying to imply. I wanted a change. I'd worn short hair for years before I shaved it in 2002, so loosing my hair wasn't a big deal at all. I applaud all of the women who are making the decision to "go natural"; just remember to be patient, take care of it and do research. If your goal is to grow long hair, please do not end up like me; 8 years in and only 2 years worth of length. That's ok, because on my 10 year anniversary in July 2012, my hair will finally be where I want it.

Curl Envy: Kelis

I absolutely adore Kelis!  I have always envied her hair (as crazy as it may be) and most of all her curls.  I'm not one of those people that cried when she cut her hair, in fact, I actually applauded it and hid all of my scissors.  After all, hair is just hair, and my philosophy is: it will grow to lengths unimaginable if you know how to properly maintain it regardless of texture and type.

Movies: The Tourist

This was a really cute movie. Not Angelina's typical high action-packed thriller; but more of slightly romantic comedy/chick-flick for men...lol. Although I wasn't blown away, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also got a few "girl-power" pointers from Jolie's character!

Have you ever made a crazy decision and just in the nick of time, you came to your senses and got out before matters got worse?  Yeah, well in 2010 I was out of my damn mind a lot and thankfully by the grace of GOD I am able to pull it together just in time.  NOT THIS TIME, NOT THIS TIME, NOT THIS TIME!!!!

Since becoming natural, Beyonce, from time to time, has been known to rock fierce, kinks, curls, and waves. Whether it's her hair or a weave (who cares), all of this inspiration is about to make me go blonde!!! Check out some of her curls over the years!

Arts, Beats, and Eats!

Every first Sunday, a good friend of mine Curran J. and a few of his friends throw a themed networking event called Arts, Beats, and Eats.  The themes are always charitable and for a good cause; I wasn't able to attend the toy drive this past Sunday, but I did go to November's canned food drive.

Wedding Time!!

So, I just went to a wedding today and let me just say it was beautiful, Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Williams!!!!!!!!!  The DJ tore it up and we definitely had a great time!  Here is a little snippet of the SOUNDTRACK!
